iah Khan was the daughter of Ali Rizvi Khan, an Indian American, and Rabiya Amin, a Hindi film actress in the 1980s from Agra and most remembered in Tahir Hussain's Dulha Bikta Hai. Jiah Khan has been rumoured to be the daughter of Tahir Hussain, and therefore related to Aamir Khan, but she dismissed the story as untrue. Jiah Khan has two younger sisters. Though born Nafisa, she changed her name to Jiah after Angelina Jolie's movie GIA. She loves saying "Maama Barthiya" often. Khan was trained in opera and plays the piano and also in dance salsa, lambada, samba and Kathak. She completed her A levels in film studies and literature in London. At the age of 16, she was about to debut in Mukesh Bhatt's Tumsa Nahin Dekha, but backed out when she felt the role was too mature for her, and was immediately replaced by Dia Mirza. Two years later in 2006, she debuted in the controversial Nishabd, where she acted opposite Amitabh Bachchan. The film was released on March 2, 2007 to mixed reviews. Khan was noted for her confidence, attitude, and sex appeal. Then she appeared in AR Murugadoss' Ghajini, Hindi remake, along with Aamir Khan and Asin Thottumkal released on 26th Dec, 2008. She also got a "Filmfare Best Debutant" Nomination for her performance. She also appeared as a supporting actress in Sajid Khan's Housefull which was her last film. Death Jiah Khan allegedly committed suicide at her Juhu residence in Mumbai on 3 June 2013. The 25-year-old is believed to have hung herself. Bollywood is shocked over her sudden demise. Jiah Khan was born on February 20, 1988 in New York, and was brought up in London, Chelsea. She studied English literature and Art from MPW in London, and then at the age of 17 went on to study Shakespeare and method acting at the Lee Strasberg’s Institute in New York.

The greatest turning point in Jiah Khan’s life came when Ram Gopal Verma selected her as the lead heroine opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the controversial film 'Nishabd', loosely based around the famous novel ‘Lolita.’ Ram Gopal Varma directed 'Nishabd' and all of 18, Jiah Khan instantly became one of the most sought after actresses in the industry. The subject of the film was so sensitive and the portrayal of Jiah in that film was really eye catching and she proved herself with a stellar performance. Jiah's bold performance became a nationwide sensation.

Nishabd was released in 2007 and Jiah Khan got a ‘Filmfare Best Debutant’ nomination for her acting skills.

Jiah Khan also sang one of the songs “Take Lite” for 'Nishabd'. She composed, wrote and the choreographed the song, that went onto be quite popular among the younger generation.
